Blwyddyn 6 / Year 6 - Mr Evans

Croeso i dudalen Blwyddyn 6! Mae 25 ohonom ni yn y dosbarth, 15 bachgen a 10 merch. Rydym yn ddosbarth hapus, talentog a charedig sydd yn mwynhau her! Yn anffodus, dyma ein blwyddyn olaf yng Nghwm Derwen ond bwriadwn weithio'n galed a mwynhau bob eiliad eleni cyn i ni ddechrau ein hantur newydd yng Nghwm Rhymni.

Pob bore rydym yn mwynhau gweithgareddau darllen, Mathemateg ac Iaith. Yn y prynhawniau rydym yn cyflawni gweithgareddau Prosiect. Rydym yn ffodus tu hwnt i gael sesiynau Ymarfer Corff a Cherddoriaeth o dan arweiniad staff 'Super Stars' bob bore dydd Llun. Rydym hefyd yn cynnal ein sesiwn Ymarfer Corff arall gyda Blwyddyn 5 bob prynhawn dydd Gwener - cofiwch eich cit os gwelwch yn dda!

Fel disgyblion hynaf yr ysgol, mae cyfrifoldebau pwysig iawn gyda ni eleni. Rydyn ni'n gyfrifol am arwain y ffordd a modelu esiampl arbennig i ddisgyblion eraill yr ysgol o ran siarad Cymraeg, ymddygiad, ymdrech a thrwy ddilyn gwerthoedd a rheolau'r ysgol. O ganlyniad, rydym yn cefnogi'r staff bob amser chwarae trwy gefnogi plant wrth chwarae, arwain disgyblion nol i'w dosbarthiadau a monitro'r ystafell gotiau a choridorau er mwyn sicrhau parch, parodrwydd a diogelwch gan bawb. Rydym yn cael y fraint eleni hefyd i eistedd ar y meinciau moethus yng nghefn y neuadd yn ystod gwasanaethau...o'r diwedd!

Ein thema ni tymor yma ydy 'Trwy Dwll y Clo' ac rydym wedi penderfynu astudio chwedlau ac arwyr. Byddwn yn cyflawni llawer o'm gwaith ymchwil yn ystod ein sesiynau darllen ar agweddau megis stori Branwen, Culhwch ac Olwen a Blodeuwedd. Byddwn hefyd yn astudio gwahanol fathau o ddreigiau. Byddwn yn cyflawni gwaith rhifedd a llythrennedd yn ystod ein gwersi prosiect yn seiliedig ar rain.

Yn ystod tymor y Gwanwyn byddwn yn mynychu cwrs Crucial Crew i ddysgu am sefyllfaoedd iechyd a diogelwch. Ym mis Mawrth, byddwn yn dathlu ein Heisteddfod ysgol olaf yng Nghwm Derwen lle byddwn yn cystadlu i ennill y gadair wrth ysgrifennu darn creadigol – dymunwch bob lwc i ni! Bwriadwn hefyd ymchwilio i effaith newid uchder llethr ar bellter teithio cerbyd ac effaith ymarfer corff ar guriad y galon yn ystod ein gwersi Gwyddoniaeth.

Welcome to our Year 6 page! There are 25 of us in class, 15 boys and 10 girls. We are a happy, talented and kind class who thrive on challenges! Unfortunately, this is our last year in Cwm Derwen but we fully intend on working hard and enjoying our final year before we embark on our new adventure in Cwm Rhymni.

Every morning we enjoy reading sessions, Mathematic and Language work. In the afternoons we complete our Project activities. We are extremely fortunate to conduct Physical Education and Music lessons every Monday morning, under the guidance of 'Super Stars'. Our other P.E lesson with Year 5 takes place every Friday afternoon - please remember to bring your kit!

As the older pupils of Cwm Derwen, we have important responsibilities this year. We are responsible for leading the way and modelling an exemplary example in terms of speaking Welsh, behaviour, effort and adhering to school values and rules. As a result, we support the staff during break times by playing nicely with pupils of all ages, leading pupils back to their classrooms and monitoring the cloak rooms and corridors in order to ensure respect, readiness and safety from everyone. We also have the privilege of sitting on the comfortable benches at the back of the hall during our assemblies...at last!

Our theme this term is 'Through the Keyhole' and we have chosen to study myths and legends. We will complete the majority of our research during our reading activities, concentrating on myths such as Branwen, Culhwch ac Olwen a Blodeuwedd. We will also conduct a research in to dragons. We will complete a number of numeracy and literacy sessions during our project work in light of this research.

During the Spring we will be visiting Crucial Crew where we will learn valuable lessons in health and safety. In March we will be experiencing our final school Eisteddfod, where we will be competing against each other to win the chair as first prize in a creative writing competition – wish us luck! We also intend on investigating the effect that adjusting the height of a ramp has on the distance a car travels and the effect that physical activity has on the heart during our Science projects.
